Go Bannor

This is a networking site designed to facilitate communication, cooperation, and mission centered interaction among Seventh-day Adventist oriented gospel medical missionaries. The software functionality has features that are similar to those you'd expect to find on Facebook, plus a lot more. We've disabled the "like" feature to protect against the harmful effects it can have.

Features:

Activity or Activity Wall: this is a running stream of posts that is unique to each member. Some people call it their timeline. When you post something to your Activity Wall, others can see it when they view your wall. Things you post on your wall also show up on the walls of those other members with whom you have established a connection. Please stay mission focused.

Connections: you can request a connection with another member. When a connection is established, their posts will show up on your Activity Wall, and your posts will show up on theirs. This is like "friending" someone on Facebook.

Forums: You can access the main forum area from the site item of the main menu. In addition to this, each group has a menu option to access the groups own forum area. Every member (individual or organization) also has the ability to maintain their own forum accessed through their member profile area. Please use care to narrow your forum activity to the audience to which it is relevant. This will cut down on unnecessary distraction to other members who are not necessarily interested in every possible topic.

Groups: In addition to individual connections, members can join special interest groups. Each group has its own Activity Wall that can be viewed by accessing that group from the main menu (Community-Groups-All Categories) or (Community-Groups-All Groups).

Group Categories: In order to maintain some organization to the many groups that can form, groups are divided into categories. To avoid confusion, please use care to select the best category when forming groups. It may require a bit of thought, but a new group's focus will fit best in one of the following:

Moderators: Moderators are members with special abilities to monitor and disable members' Connect Port activity. We consider this to be an important service because we take our responsibility to keep the content of this service clean and appropriate. We also monitor content to be sure content stays mission specific. Disabling posts or memberships is something that moderators do reluctantly and in most cases they will prefer to address issues through coaching and dialog if the circumstance allow. Please don't be easily offended. Anyone who participates in a way that distracts or lowers our high standards invites a moderator's contact. Be happy they care enough to speak up.

Privacy, Safety, Distractions: The primary benefit to a limited networking site such as Connect Port is that the audience in narrowed to a special interest group. This improves privacy to some extent, as will as protecting members from the unsafe and distracting content found on general purpose sites. We do not do advertising for the general public and are particular about the products and services that members promote to other members. Connect Port is not politicly correct; we are not shy about our commitment to Bible started relating to the social issues we face today.
